A week of games, skill-building, and fun all focused on the “original” YMCA sport! Examples of activities: basic skills development (dribbling, shooting, and defensive skills), practice games, knockout, relay games.

Flag Football

A week full of hikes, passes and touchdowns, minus the helmets, pads and tackles. Examples of activities: position-specific drills, mini-game scenarios and strategy filled chalk-talks. This week may or may not produce excessive pictures of every camper doing the heisman pose.

Diamond Sports

A week “based” around developing and applying skills in baseball and softball. Specific activities may include the following: passing and catching practice, batting tips and tricks, pop fly in-game scenarios.

Planet Earth’s most popular sport, Soccer! This week will entail drills, in-game scenarios and scrimmages of all sizes designed to better your power, finesse and dribbling skills.

Experience a taste of sports not often found in the United States. Examples of activities: basic introduction to sports such as rugby, cricket, bocce, handball, curling.

Volleyball

Bump, set and spike your way to scoring some fun. For younger campers we have specially designed volleyballs that cater to their developmental needs, and for the older campers we will be refining and applying many intermediate and advanced volleyball skills.

Sports Challenge/Field Day

Who will make it on the Y-Camp podium and earn that gold, silver or bronze medal? These activities are not just athletic events, some may require no athleticism at all! Everyone will have a fair shot at representing a country and competing in some incredible feats of strength, stamina, brains and goofy talent.

Flag Football/Cheerleading

A week blend the speed of non-contact football and the fun of dance/cheerleading. Campers will be introduced to both sports in a fun supportive environment. Example of activities: basic non-contact football skills (passing, receiving, ball-carrying, and defensive skills), basic cheer/dance routines with some similar focus of gymnastics.

Fitness Challenge

Campers will test their physical ability in a variety of events, learn how to set attainable fitness goals and achieve them. This week will be all about personal growth and goal setting.

Hockey/Lacrosse

America’s oldest sport, the beautiful game of lacrosse will be modified to a non-contact version so campers can develop the fundamentals to play the real thing! We also will be focusing on floor hockey this week and will throw some brave counselors in the goals to provide some added fun!

Spirit Week

Meet and compete with all your fellow YMCA of Central Ohio campers and show your camp pride! Teams will create camp-themed banners, songs, cheers, and mascots. Camp teams will present at the Hoover YMCA Park* for a day of grand fun with loads of other kids. *This week includes a field trip to Hoover YMCA Park on Thursday.
